Because most of our hair is made up of a protein called keratin, we must make sure that we are consuming enough protein for our hair to be healthy and vibrant. Protein allows our hair to thrive and to grow with less breakage and shedding.

Protein is also necessary to prevent hair loss and to strengthen our hair. On the other hand, if you have a protein deficiency, you could experience negative side effects such as hair becoming weak and damaged, excessively dry or brittle, and even possibly falling out. Therefore, it is essential that we get not only the right amount of protein, but also the right type of protein every day.

Most Protein Rich Foods

Now that we know protein is essential for our hair, what can we eat or consume to make sure we get enough of a daily intake? Although meat is rich in protein, you must be careful to always eat meat in moderation. Other wonderful sources of protein are eggs, cheese, dairy, beans, nuts, and tofu.  As always, maintaining a well balanced diet will ensure that you are getting the right amount of protein for your body which will help your hair to then be balanced and healthy.

Another fabulous source of protein for hair growth is to find a hair vitamin filled with amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein.   Protein is essential for life to exist and all life is made up of protein.  When you have lost your energy and need fuel for your body or pep for your hair, consider examining your diet to make sure that you are getting the right amount of protein for hair growth. This will give you just one more step to make sure that you are giving your hair what it needs to thrive!
