Chances are you've had a bad haircut or two (or twenty) and you would like to know how to grow your hair out fast! Sometimes, it may seem like your hair actually stops growing when you want to grow your hair out faster, but I assure you this isn't the case. Optimum hair growth rate is about 1/2 an inch per month, and you can maximize your hair growth by handling your hair with care, making sure you have a very healthy diet, and taking hair vitamin supplements.

While it may be tempting to hide a bad haircut by pulling it into a ponytail or a bun, this is not recommended if you want to grow your hair out fast! Ponytails cause the ends to break off and make it seem like your hair is not growing. Instead, try sprucing up your hairstyle with some cute bobby pins, or perhaps try wearing it differently by parting it on the other side, or in the middle. Sometimes the lines of a haircut work better if parted differently.

If you're used to heat styling your hair, this next recommendation might be difficult to follow. Heat damages your hair and causes breakage, so avoid curling irons and flat irons and try letting your hair dry naturally. Also, wash and rinse your hair in the coolest water you can stand, to avoid damage from hot water. You may even find that a cool water rinse feels pretty good!

Be very careful about what you put on your hair and stay away from chemicals. While a perm might help disguise some bad layers, it will also damage your hair! A new fresh hair color might be fun, and seem like a nice change, but the chemicals in hair dye are damaging. If you absolutely feel you need to color your hair, use a semi-permanent dye without peroxide.

Use a good conditioner and shampoo to keep your hair resilient but don't overdo it. Over-conditioned hair is limp and weak and prone to breakage.

Growing your hair out can be frustrating, but be patient and it will grow!
